The new moon is a mystic. The waxing moon fuels our cultural obsession with growth and momentum.
But the waning moon? She’s the one who sits beside you on the park bench after everything falls apart. She’s the moon who helps you pack the last box after the breakup, who keeps quiet company in the evenings when there’s nothing left to say. She’s stillness without loneliness. The soft hand on the shoulder. The exhale after the storm.
On December 4th, we were blessed with the Long Night’s Moon, which came as a reminder of our cold little station on the wheel of the year as the solstice waits just ahead. Each night since, the moon has shed her shine a little more, slipping into her winter shawl as we hurtle into the holidays, ready or not.
